New South Wales & Queensland

• Project - Management of one of Australia’s top macadamia enterprises (1985-2015)
  • Summary - Our managing director Kim Wilson is the former General Manager of ‘Gray Plantations’, where he was the driving force behind the company’s expansion to almost 400 hectares of orchards in northern New South Wales and Mackay Queensland, including several large nurseries (holding more than 150,000 macadamia trees) that supply the world industry. Kim was passionate about continually striving to improve Gray's on-farm operations and he invested in the latest, cutting-edge industry research to achieve optimal results - covering areas like variety selection, canopy management, tree transplanting and top-working. He worked closely with the industry’s peak body, the Australian Macadamia Society, and regularly collaborated on major research projects and trials with key Australian research agencies.

• Project - Establishment & management of Australia’s first super-high density macadamia plantation (2001-2014)    
  • Summary - Kim was the driving force in this long term project to establish Australia’s first commercial super-high density (200 hectare) macadamia plantation (located in Queensland). Kim was involved in all aspects of the project - from the identification of suitable land, to layout, variety selection, supervision of the planting program and establishment of the 400,000-tree nursery.

Western Australia

• Project - Plantation establishment & management (2003)                                       
  • Summary - Contracted by a Western Australian investor to provide advice and assistance in the selection of land and tree varieties. 

• Project - Plantation establishment & management (1998-present)
  • Summary - Managed the first large scale shipment of macadamia trees to Western Australia. Kim has continued to both supply trees and provide expert horticultural advice to growers in this state for the past 15 years.
